Hiking the Long Trail

This weekend Derek came to visit and we celebrated our anniversary. One whole year! Holy moly! It was really nice to see him. It’s been tough since I’ve moved and don’t get to see him every day anymore.

He stayed through today though and we decided to take advantage of such a beautiful spring day in Vermont. We headed down Route 130 and hiked a short portion of the Long Trail. Earlier this year we had discussed possibly hiking the entire trail, or even hiking the Appalachian Trail, but that plan was a little over-ambitious for us. I’m glad that after living in Vermont for five years now though that I can finally say I’ve hiked on the Long Trail!

There were also some really great camp sites set up near the trail head and we’re even considering going back later this summer to camp for a weekend or two. I didn’t get any pictures of them, but I can’t wait to go back!

Here are some pictures from our outing (sorry for the quality, I’m still without a real camera and am stuck taking photos on my phone):

    You know, the beginning of the AT is only a few miles from our cabin… {HINT HINT HINT}

    Ooh! Maybe next summer we can plan a trip down there to visit you guys at the cabin and venture on the trail a little bit. We’re too poor for anymore traveling for a while, haha, but it’s never too soon to start planning the next time!
